Will my Ring seats be the same as my traditional subscription seats?

Because of the limited number of performances and the unique nature of presenting three cycles, subscribers should not expect to receive their current subscription seats for their Ring cycle.

How do I ensure that I receive the best possible seats?

Seating priority is based on contribution and subscription history with greatest consideration given to contributions and Ring Circle memberships. Unlike a subscription renewal, there is no firm deadline for placing your Ring order.

Seating will be assigned after purchase. Tickets will be mailed in spring 2018, closer to the performance dates.

Do I have to pay for my Ring cycle all at once?

No. We offer an extended payment plan for Ring subscriptions. For further details, or to arrange a payment plan, please call the Box Office at (415) 864-3330. Sorry, payment plans are not available online.

If I join the Ring Circle, how do I purchase my Ring cycle tickets?

Ring Circle members enjoy personalized service and may purchase their tickets through the Medallion concierge phone line at (415) 565-6447.

What happens if I join the Ring Circle?

By giving a meaningful gift to the Ring, you will increase your seating priority as well as receive a myriad of benefits including behind-the-scenes experiences with San Francisco Opera artists and staff. Ring Circle members may purchase Ring tickets without the tax-deductible contribution. Ring Circle buyers at the $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000 levels can purchase up to 4 Ring cycle seats at the ticket price without contribution. Learn more.

Why is there a contribution included with the ticket price?

Mounting the Ring is a costly undertaking. It is a time when we rely on the generosity of our patrons more than ever. Each Ring ticket in this priority offer includes a tax-deductible contribution, which provides additional funding to support this monumental production.

Normally our summer season consists of 24 performances. However in Summer 2018, we will stage only Ring operas, substantially reducing the number of performances. Therefore not only have expenses increased for the Summer 2018 Season, but the number of performances to sell will decrease.

Is the contribution tax deductible? Will I receive recognition?

The contribution portion of Ring cycle ticket prices is tax-deductible. Patrons will be recognized in program listings and will be eligible for corresponding benefits during the 2017–18 Season. Anyone making a Ring Circle gift will be recognized in program listings and will be eligible for benefits during the 2017–18 Season.

Additionally, Ring Circle gifts will be recognized on a special Ring page of the program book during the 2017–18 Season.

Will Ring cycle tickets ever be available without the tax-deductible CONTRIBUTION?

We do not anticipate offering Ring cycle tickets without a tax-deductible contribution until late spring 2018, if at all, given the anticipated demand for tickets for the three cycles and the expense of the production.

Are ticket exchanges available for Ring cycle tickets?

It is important to note that Ring cycle tickets may not be exchanged. Attending a Ring cycle is a unique experience, intended by the composer to be presented as a 4-opera cycle taking place over the course of one week. Therefore we do not expect to have tickets available for exchange between one cycle and another.

Can I order additional single tickets for operas in the Ring?

At this time we are not offering single tickets to Ring cycle performances, because we expect each performance to be sold as a part of a 4-opera package.
